Gardens are maintained extremely well with attractive and colourful illumination noted after dark. All exterior areas are very well maintained providing a most positive first impression.”

Hospitality

Food Quality
“The menu offers a very good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian options to suit most tastes and appetites. Most dishes are made in house with quality ingredients noted throughout. Local produce is sourced where possible with all staff showing a good knowledge of provenance when asked. It is good to see so many home-made dishes on the menu.”
Food Sampled
Deep Fried Tempura Battered Courgette Flower, Dressed Leaves and a Chilli Mayonnaise:
“Crispy fried with a thin and light batter, the baby courgette was delightfully fresh with the flower attached. Cooked perfectly with a nice bite to the courgette. Salad leaves were fresh and well dressed and the mayonnaise provided a good ‘kick’ of chilli. Excellent.”
Seafood Linguine with King Prawns, Smoked Haddock, Clams and Salmon, bound with a Tomato and Chorizo Sauce and garnished with Fresh Parsley:
“A very well presented and colourful fish with generous amounts of fish. The linguine was served ‘al dente’. The sauce added a very good piquancy to the dish with the chorizo adding some light smokiness and heat. Fresh parmesan was requested and served as shavings to top the dish. Very good indeed.”
Treacle Tart with Pouring Cream:
“Crisp, light pastry with a deep filling of set golden syrup. The filling was soft but nicely set with a citrus note ensuring that the dessert was not too sticky. The tart was served warmed (not microwaved) which ensured a freshly baked appeal. An excellent dessert.”
Overall Summary
